(This is more of a “look what I made” kind of a post, but I do want to share some “how you do?” notes, right up top.)
I wasn’t expecting to get a lesson in AI bias, but, well, I got one. It took a lot of effort to get StableDiffusion to understand the ethnicity I wanted for Jo’jaxon; he’s African American, which is not something you get a lot of by default even when you ask. It eventually got it, mostly because I fed it back images that were more in line with what I asked for.
Then there was the issue of the jersey and hat. Hats were not the problem I expected them to be; StableDiffusion gets it that the bill of a ballcap generally points forward, so I didn’t get a lot of backwards hats. No, the issue was that sports jerseys and team caps have, well, names, numbers and teams on them. The concept art for Jo does too, so while I was expecting it, I wasn’t expecting the word salad I was getting by way of team names and player names.
In the end, I just asked it, very pointedly, to not include them. I’ll design it later.

I really like the leftmost pose, and the face is pretty darn close to the original concept.
