Daily writing prompt
What is one question you hate to be asked? Explain.

“Question I hate to be asked? That’s.. not a concept where I come from.”

“So, I’m a monster. We answer to anything bigger than us or with more teeth than us, because if you don’t obey that rule, well, not taking orders is soon about to be the least of your day’s problems. Also, its not like orders come with a please or a question mark at the end; usually its something like ‘or die’ as motivation. Since whoever is asking likely has the goods to back up the ‘or die,’ part of the request, I generally find that improves my willingness to hop to or do whatever it is I’m told to do, at least when anybody is watching.”

“Since I turned sides, the amount of ‘or die’ has really significantly decreased. I appreciate that, at least on a conceptual level, really I do. Its just when you’re used to that as the not-subtle-at-all undertones, you tend to get your antenna up whenever anybody addresses you and looks like they want you to do something for them. Also, when you’re used to being told to do tasks that likely will get you killed, you kinda get the ‘or die’ from both ends. Attack that adventurer with the shiny sword or die is a perfect example of that, by the way; either way you’re properly hosed.”

“So, I lost the plot on this question, I guess. Questions that I hate are the ones that usually involve me getting killed if I say yes or no to them. If you got that as a perspective, then really anything less than that is not a problem.”

(Author’s note: I wanted to respond to the daily prompts, but I didn’t necessarily want to dilute what I’m working on to talk about me. So I figured I’d do a character spotlight, this time of Flonk. Check out the rest of the Also Rans crew)
