If your MC is a cleric, there’s going to be a point where you say “Get offa mah land.” And by my land, I mean whatever patron deity you’ve just evoked to burn the unholy butt cheeks that happen to be trespassing. Which is technically divine squatting; I don’t know that deities have to respect property rights, but there is probably a civic ordinance somewhere that prevents you from clonking your staff on the ground and say “God owns this Denny’s now.”

You think your little holy pyre is going to stop me, hunh? Wait, why I burn?
I did a thing! I learned how to caption a link!

Alastrina‘s move set is all about prayer, and as she build up her charge meter, she can call out to the gods for a healthy serving of whoop-ass. One of her moves is to consecrate the ground, and I was working on card art for that and other moves. I really liked where the art went on this one; I had asked for monsters fleeing a holy fire, but Stable Diffusion kept insisting that monsters really needed to be front and center on this piece. So, after fighting with it for a while, I did let it.

This was the source image for the above; kinda like a patron saint or something came down to, I dunno, give you a good deal on frozen or canned vegetables? He doesn’t particularly look jolly, but he’s green and giant, so, 2 out of 3? Because it was a little too unclear if this was friend or fiend, I iterated on it, and may save this for something else. Or, you know, post it now and let the internet decide which one they like better, I guess? Both good options.

You know the analogy about carving marble into statues? Keep chiseling until the statue comes out of the stone? And if you only get a pile of marble chips, your excuse is, “well, I guess there wasn’t a statue in that piece of marble.” AI art do be like that sometimes. Neither of these images really tell the story of making holy ground and frying infidels, but they’re kinda cool. So I wanted to at least show them off in some way, and NTT seemed like a good place.

  1. Both photos are fantastic, but I must say, the second one really captivates me with its artistic flair!

    1. Right? I really couldn’t discard that one; gave me patronus vibes and the ambiguity over whether that was a guardian spirit for or against your intent was nifty. I’m glad it vibed for you too!
