Daily writing prompt
What does freedom mean to you?

“Freedom? I mean what even would that be? Some kumbaya crap they tell kids to be happy about as they teach them the rules? ‘Rejoice, children, thanks to your freedoms, you are free to do this homework assignment and work a job until you are of no use to society, then you’re free to go die!’”

“There’s that, and the freedom to give your lunch money to that bigger fellow with the club. Who apparently is enjoying his freedom to beat on you with that club at absolutely no expense to his person. I mean, can you imagine a repressive society that prevented that sort of thing from happening?”

“Don’t look at our own dirty floor, children, only focus on how great that phony balogna word sounds. My heart swells with pride knowing that our freedoms prevent me from being abused any worse!”

“Oof, you two are real downers. Remind me not to invite you in for the lofty writing prompts.”

  1. So, I have five boys and this is what they say. Freedom…what is that exactly?

    1. It’s a thing our ancestors fought for. Which means nothing really, just moves the comprehension goalposts about 4 score and 7 years ago.
