There are Splizzball pitchers known for their precise aim. There are those known for mastery of the field, picking off runners at crucial moments. Then there’s “Shoeless” Jo’jaxon. Who is known not as an excellent pitcher, but one known to throw things that one ordinarily not throw in regulation play. Or have any reason to exist in a regulation pitching sack. For Jo, formerly of the Gnorthwell Gnomes, is still talked about for his infamous wild pitches.

“I think people love to root for someone they know they’re close to, maybe identify with. Who doesn’t get some freakish luck every so often, maybe even a run of it?
Now, a run for a season, that’s something a bit above.”

Jo had a career in Splizzball, and while not a legendary one exactly, that at least an infamous one. Like any scrappy player yearning for the limelight and cereal box promotional money, when the opportunity came up for him to freelance and join The Hero, he and his agent figured it could be a big chance to send his name up on the scoreboard. Everybody loves a hero, and if he could add “Stopped The Big Bad” to his trading card, well, so much the better. Only it didn’t quite work out like he had envisioned.

“I mean, its not exactly a well kept secret that sometimes there’s issues when I pitch.
So I did my best on that boss fight, and when I accidentally resurrected the boss instead of an ally.. hey, I’m not the one who only bought that one feather.”

Benched for the season and unable to sign back up, Jo’s star began to dim as he became more of a “‘member that guy?” sideshow attraction at the Splizzball museum. His agent said he was catching some leads, but the cut he got for ribbon cutting by a has-been wasn’t as good as as he would get from a rising star. So when Alastrina and her friends realized he too was cut out..

“I’m no charity case. I show up, everyday, play hard in every game, and I only ask that when I do my fair share, I get respected for it. Even if its weird crap like saving the world with a priestess, a bug, and a magical woodland sprite.”

Jo’jaxon is the ranged artillery of his group, and he is very quick with a healing potion from the party inventory. Under normal situations, he keeps those roles separate. Sometimes wires get crossed and bags get swapped. Sometimes things come out of those bags that nobody knows how they got in there. With a wink and a crowd appealing grin, he’ll try to make it look like it was all part of the act.
