This is my first entry for No Theme Thursday, which looks like a lot of fun and I wanted to play too!
I like act villains in sagas. They’re not here for a long time, they’re just here for a bad time, and before they wear out their welcome, they’re defeated and the main characters are moving on. Its really hard to have Cobra Commander getting his butt whooped by GI Joe and yet somehow they forget to capture him every Saturday morning. No, better to have some disposable mook that you can get the satisfaction of winning against.
So I wanted to drop an expy of the Scooby Gang into a later chapter as act villains. They’re a rival group of PCs, too, only, being alternate universe versions of themselves, are evil. Or at least warped. This dungaree clad back alley dweller is Norbert the Unshorn, and he is the party thief. Only, he doesn’t stick things into his pockets. No, Norbert has a raging case of pica, and a bottomless appetite; while it is disgusting to get the items back later, no shopkeeper has ever thought to look inside of him for their missing merchandise.
Does he do it for riches? Fame? No, he’s downtrodden and abused. At most, he is a useful tool, though more commonly he needs to be horsewhipped into being useful. Still, those of his group who understand his hunger know that he can be bought. Not for gold or praise; those are too good for him. Rather, something more.. base. Something fitting a cur like him.
He will do it for a hound biscuit.
